Description

Copaíba oil , also known as Kopaiva or Kopaiba, is a traditional plant resin from the Brazilian rainforest.

It has been used for centuries by indigenous communities, Ribeirinhos and local families for skin care, regeneration and as part of their natural home medicine cabinet.

Our copaiba oil is extracted by gently drilling the trees by hand. The liquid resin remains natural, unfiltered, and rich in beta-caryophyllene (BCP), one of the most valuable ingredients in natural cosmetics. (Certificate below)

We at MadeByForest grew up locally and now, as an original startup in Germany, we bring you natural oils directly from the Amazon, fairly harvested, responsibly processed and with genuine knowledge of their effects and origin.

Designed for today. Made naturally.

Nature & Quality

Our Copaíba oil is obtained exclusively by gently tapping living trees – without heat, without additives, without refining.

This ensures that the valuable plant substances are fully preserved.

The clear, liquid oil has a warm, woody, slightly balsamic scent and is ideally suited for, e.g.:

  • Skin care and massages
  • regeneration after shaving or grooming
  • as a basis for your own natural cosmetics

Note: Copaíba is not a conventional oil, but a natural tree resin.

Ingredients

Beta-Caryophyllene (BCP) is a naturally occurring sesquiterpene – known for its soothing, anti-inflammatory and regenerative properties.

Studies show that BCP can support the skin barrier and soothe irritated skin.

Our Copaíba oil naturally contains a particularly high proportion of BCP – a true mark of quality that is regularly confirmed in laboratory analyses.

Ingredients (INCI): Copaifera officinalis (Balsam) Resin
100% natural, without additives, without preservatives.

Tradition & Use

In South America, copaiba has been part of traditional botany for centuries – as a versatile skin care product and natural resin.

In Europe, we recommend the oil exclusively forexternal applicatione.g.:

  • for the care of sensitive or irritated skin
  • for skin impurities or oily skin
  • for massage and relaxation
  • for aromatherapy applications in cases of stress or inner restlessness

Its application combines nature, knowledge and experience – across generations.

Origin & Sustainability

Our Copaíba oil comes from the southern Amazon region, from collaborations with small family farms.

We deliberately avoid intermediaries and large-scale industrial production.

The harvesting process is gentle on the tree: The resin is extracted through a small tapping hole, and the tree remains alive.

This way, the rainforest is preserved as a habitat and source of income – an important contribution against deforestation and conversion into pastureland.

Frequently Asked Questions about Copaiba

What is Copaíba oil?

Copaiba oil, also known as "Jesuit balsam," is a natural product from the Amazon. It is the resin of the copaiba tree and is extracted by drilling into the tree. The resin is bottled unaltered and pure.

How is Copaíba oil harvested?

The oil is extracted from the trunk of the copaíba tree without felling the tree. After harvesting, the borehole is sealed, allowing the tree to continue living and be harvested again.

What are the benefits of Copaíba oil?

Copaiba oil is traditionally used for skin care and to support overall health. It contains beta-caryophyllene (BCP), a natural compound with anti-inflammatory properties.

Can Copaiba oil be used internally?

Traditionally, it is taken internally, for example to prevent sore throats and the like.
We recommend that you thoroughly research copaiba oil before using it. Currently, we sell it as a "raw material" because we are still determining what application guidelines we are legally permitted to provide.

Can I use Copaiba oil externally?

Traditionally, there are a multitude of possible applications.
We are currently reviewing which application guidelines we are legally permitted to provide. We will provide further information soon.

Is Copaíba oil certified?

Yes, our first batch has already been tested, including for BCP content. The certificate can be viewed above. We are working to ensure these tests are carried out regularly to guarantee the highest quality.

Does your Copaiba oil contain beta-caryophyllene (BCP)?

Yes, our oil naturally contains a high level of beta-caryophyllene. This is currently being tested by an independent laboratory. We will share the results and certificates on our website soon.

Is Copaíba oil sustainable?

Yes, harvesting copaiba oil does not harm the rainforest. On the contrary: selling this valuable raw material increases the value of the standing tree, which helps prevent deforestation and provides local people with fair incomes.

How much Copaiba oil should you use?

Since we are not permitted to provide direct application advice, we recommend relying on traditional and widely available information. More details will follow shortly once our review is complete.

Why is Copaiba oil so versatile?

Copaiba oil has a long history of use in skin care, aromatherapy, and wellness products due to its constituents. It is often valued for its soothing and nourishing properties.

Why is your oil priced differently than some alternatives?

Our prices reflect the high quality and fair production conditions. Our direct connection to the Amazon also allows us to offer Copaíba for less than half the price of, for example, doTERRA's Copaíba, which costs over €60 per unit. But most importantly: with every purchase, you support the local people and the protection of the rainforest.
